Classification of basic plug versions
Depending on the working environment and hole design, different plug types are recommended. Below are the most common Ø18H20 options.
| No. | Product code | Key features | Suitable environment | Notes (colors) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Ø18H20-EPDM | EPDM rubber plug with good heat resistance, excellent ageing resistance and high elasticity. | Powder coating, zinc plating, outdoor environments, humidity and UV exposure. | Black White Custom |
| 02 | Ø18H20-SIL | Clean silicone rubber, very high temperature resistance, maintains shape after multiple cycles. | High-temperature ovens, powder coating lines, high-finish surface treatment. | Black White Custom |
| 03 | Ø18H20-NBR | Excellent resistance to oil and lubricants, provides highly reliable sealing. | Environments with hydraulic oil, cutting fluids and light solvents. | Black White Custom |
| 04 | Ø18H20-CUSTOM | Produced to drawing: adjustable length H, rounded edge, pull tab, color coding and more. | Automated lines where quick handling and visual identification are required. | Black White Custom |
Technical data – Ø18H20 plug
Standard dimensions are optimized for nominal hole Ø18 mm with working depth H = 20 mm. Dimensions can be fine-tuned to suit your actual parts.
The working diameter can be adjusted by ±0.3 mm depending on hole tolerance.
Select according to process temperature range and chemical exposure.
*Depending on material: EPDM up to approx. 150 °C, Silicone up to 250 °C.
Typical applications
Ø18H20 rubber plugs are widely used in processes requiring high-quality surface finish, minimizing burrs, paint runs and scratches.
Keeps threads free from paint and chemicals so that parts can be assembled easily after treatment, without re-cleaning.
Prevents dust, moisture and impacts from deforming edges; ideal for steel structures, frames and metal furniture.
Used as stoppers or small feet to reduce vibration transfer and avoid metal-to-metal contact.
Benefits of using our Ø18H20 rubber plugs
- Optimized design for fast handling, thousands of plug–unplug cycles without tearing the lip.
- Batch-by-batch quality control: hardness, dimensions, heat resistance and chemical resistance.
- Custom colors (turquoise, yellow, red, …) for easy product code identification in the factory.
- Free test samples available so your engineers can validate directly on the production line.
Sizing & storage guidelines
During ceramic basin production, uneven shrinkage at high firing temperatures can cause deviations in the actual outlet hole size, especially its diameter. Field feedback shows that if the basin drain hole diameter is 18 mm, an 18 mm plug with slight adjustment for machining tolerance will provide an optimal fit – ensuring the plug is snug, not loose, and leak-free.
Before placing an order, carefully measure the inner diameter (ID) of the basin hole using a vernier caliper or digital caliper. Share the actual tolerance so our engineers can advise on the most suitable plug design and tolerance.
- Store plugs in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and ambient temperatures above 40 °C.
- Avoid placing products near high heat sources or aggressive chemicals outside the recommended range.
- Clean the plugs periodically – they can be soaked in clean water and dried to keep the surface in good condition and extend service life.
